- Please have beverages and refreshments in our canteen area.
- Remain in the canteen area for at least 10 minutes.
- NO smoking during the next ½ hour.
- NO alcoholic beverages until you have eaten a moderate meal.
- Leave the bandage on for at least 4 hours and keep the site dry.
- Drink extra non-alcoholic liquids today and tomorrow.
- If you feel dizzy, lie down until the dizziness passes.
- If you experience prolonged discomfort, please call the Blood Center at 609.883.9750.
- During the next 12 hours, avoid strenuous exercise such as tennis, jogging, golf, swimming, basketball, etc.
- DO NOT lift heavy objects.
- If you develop any illness in the next 24 hours, please call the Blood Center at 609.883.9750
Usually bleeding does not occur at eh needle site. However, if
bleeding does occur, raise your arm above your head and apply moderated
pressure to the bleeding site until it sops. The site may appear
bruised. If this happens:
Day 1: Wrap ice in a moist cloth and apply to the site 15-20 minutes, 3-4 times during the day.
Day 2, 3, and 4: Apply a warm moist cloth to the site for 15-20 minutes, 3-4 times each day.
It is not unusual for a bruised area to change in color. If there is
excessive redness or discomfort, please call the Blood Center at
609.883.9750.
